Health, Exercise, etc.

Ok, here's the deal, i've been trying to get my body into some decent shape, but it hasn't gone very well. I REALLY need a lot of just about everything, since i've sorta let my body atrophy for the past 10 years or so. I've been doing flexibility exercises in that period, so at my best, i can move freely to a decent degree.

Know of any kind of workout plans or strategies i could use for reference? I might start taking up jogging in the mornings (though my legs are a bit of an issue for length of said jog), but i could use a little input on this.

This is sorta related to my family issue thread, since things are still getting bad and going worse, i can at least try a more effective means of getting myself into healthier condition, if nothing else while everything gets settled.

My basic workout thus far for the past few weeks has been 10 lb. free weights to help during the day when it's too hot to get going fast, a series of push-ups and sit-ups, followed by some light calisthenics. I've spent a few hours a day doing this, but i'm not feeling any kind of results, at least not yet anyways. If possible, I could stand to lose some weight as well, but i'm not willing to change my diet since it's reasonably healthy as it is.

thoughts, suggestions, etc. are all welcome

make sure to run/walk at least 20min. doesnt really matter how far, just how long.

I run a mile every 5 minutes ish. So run 4 miles a day! And I do situps after every TV show I watch (50) so that helps I guess.

Health draws a lot from what and how you eat and drink. Eat well. Start the day with a breakfast. Eat a lot of vegetable meals, lots of fruits too. Make it a priority that you drink at least 2l of water each day. Get a plastic bottle and just refill it. Stop drinking alcohol.

Exercise regularly. You wont see change on yourself after a few weeks, so dont even bother. Concentrate on making yourself feel better. Run for half an hour, or go to swim. Get a bicycle and cycle instead of bus or car. Weights are good, write down a thorough routine and do it every day, you'll find that with every week you can up the weights by 1 kg or so (I am speaking of experience, I started this 2 months ago when i had my down-time with 2lbs dumbells, now its 14-18 lbs per arm). Move until exhaustion every day and it will make you feel better, and in about 2 months time you will also see physical changes.

Concentrate on eating well and healthy though, that is very important for overall physical wellbeing. No need to do diets and shit, just eat less fat meals and more (loads more) vegetables.

one good weightlifting strategy is the pyramid, start low weight high reps and work up to high weight low reps, then back down.

ah, very good advice all around.

My diet shouldn't be an issue since i eat pretty healthy, sticking to mostly low seasoned foods, usually involved a majority of vegetables (i eat most any veggy, greens, beans, etc.), and i'm usually eating bread or rice to go with it as the big part of the meal, with very little meat with it barring few exceptions, most of which are soups. I've completely annihilated the ingestion of things like sodas, and have been sticking to tea and water.

the length thing might be where i've been going wrong, since i was going a good 10minutes on, then 5 off over and over again. I've managed to drop a good 5-lbs since i started, so that is progress in some form at least, though i've got another 40 or so before i'll be happy with it though ^_^

You know, I don't get the whole breakfast thing. I've never had trouble skipping breakfast.
